“I know, dear. But, you need to get sleep,” she urged, running her fingers through Haley’s hair. She kissed the top of Haley’s head and smiled. “Oh please, dear. It’s top secret. And, if I’ve learned anything from you, it’s that top secret means that you have to wait, but it will be worth it. You’ll like it Haley, dear. I promise,” she yawned, propping Haley up so she could smile looking into her eyes. 

Haley smiled back and nodded. She guessed that was enough for her, and also the fact that she was barely staying awake. Her mom always knew what to say to calm her down, no matter what the situation. She understood better than anyone could. “Thanks, Mom. Can you tuck me in again? Please?”

“Yes. Of course, dear,” Regina sighed, kissing her forehead and rising from her chair. She quickly cleaned up a few things in her office and returned to Haley, grabbing her hand to take her to her to her room. “Shall we go? Perhaps, I should read you quick short story before you go back to bed. One that doesn’t give you nightmares,” she suggested, continuing to flash her a tired, but warm smile.
