“Shhhh I know too.” Sophia rubbed her hands up and down Regina’s back to console her, “it’s okay get it all out.” She rocked her friend gently in her arms as if she were an infant. “Your mother will always love you. She will always be in here.” Sophia pulled back a little and placed her hand over her heart, “and if you ever feel alone remember you have me and I love you very much. You being you is enough in our friendship.” Sophia cupped Regina’s face and pressed her forehead against hers, “just remember that.”

Regina sobbed harder, nodding at Sophia as she pulled away slightly and spoke. All she could think about was how everyone she loved left her. And, part of her couldn’t help, but worry about whether it was good for Sophia to be around her either. Of course her mother’s death hadn’t been her fault, but she couldn’t help but think that part of it was. If she had just stuck to her gut and not trusted Snow, none of this would have happened. “Sophia. I-” she trailed off as she choked back more tears, finding that this was all she could muster.
